I am a visual artist who has been creating artworks in various mediums all my life. Today my work consists of watercolor, acrylic, mixed media and encaustic pieces. Much of it is inspired by nature and my travels to the Caribbean.
I am much more interested in the process of making than the actual finished piece, as it feels like an adventure. Sometimes I love where the journey takes me, others I question the path the piece has taken and wonder if perhaps a wrong turn was made. Regardless of the outcome, all work is good for learning and if I don't like it, it gets painted over or torn into pieces to be used as collage.
My favorite medium of late is encaustic, one of, if not the most ancient of art forms. I love it because it is ancient, involves high heat - sometimes fire, and I can incorporate bits of ephemera and found objects.
I also teach all of these mediums as well as drawing to adults and children, which is very rewarding to me.
I have been a graphic design professional for the past 40 years and am new to Arts in Medicine and still in the process of learning how to share this with patients. From my experience thus far, I am convinced that there is a spiritual component to the arts in all their forms. Whether it be the act of creating, viewing artwork, hearing music or feeling the movements of dance, all touch the spirit of both the viewer and the maker.
Below are examples of my work in each of the mediums described.

Love your examples Linda .
